More Space and Features Make Up the Reworked 2020 Toyota Prius Prime Lineup

By Justin Cupler | May 9th, 2019

The Toyota Prius Prime arrived at our showroom serving the Waukegan area in 2016, giving car shoppers in the McHenry and Crystal Lake areas a new plug-in hybrid to make their commutes less of a cash drain. Despite its freshness, Toyota is always looking to improve, and that’s just what it will do with the 2020 Prius Prime lineup.

Visually, the 2020 Prime will roll into Waukegan with the same looks it’s had since 2016, but there will be three new trims. Toyota will scrap the Plus, Premium, and Advanced trim schedule and replace them with an LE, XLE, and Limited structure that better matches the rest of the automaker’s lineup.

Moving inside, there are tons more updates for our McHenry area buyers to take in, starting with a new five-passenger layout in place of the old four-seat format. Buyers will also get standard Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa to enhance connectivity and ease of use. Rounding out the interior updates will be two additional USB ports in the rear of the center console, standard SiriusXM, black interior accents in place of the white ones, sun visor extenders, and an easier-to-access passenger seat heater button.

Besides these updates, the 2020 Toyota Prius Prime will remain the same. Under its hood, it will continue with a 95-horsepower 1.8-liter engine and a 600-volt permanent magnet AC synchronous motor that combine for 121 horsepower. With an 8.8-kilowatt-hour battery, the 2020 Prius Prime will retain its 25-mile EV range. Once you deplete the battery, the 2020 Prius Prime will deliver 54 mpg combined in hybrid mode. With a full battery and a full tank of fuel, the 2020 Toyota Prius Prime will deliver a 640-mile total cruising range.

The 2020 Toyota Prius Prime will hit Garber Fox Lake Toyota serving the Waukegan area in the summer of 2019. Its pricing will start from $27,600 for the LE trim and will rise to $29,500 in the XLE trim and $33,500 in the Limited trim. Keep an eye on our online inventory page to be the first to know when the 2020 Prius Prime models hit our Toyota showroom serving the Crystal Lake area.
