New 2020 Toyota Avalon TRD Zips Onto the Scene

By Justin Cupler | September 11th, 2019

A few months back, Toyota announced the luxurious Avalon would get a more performance-oriented TRD model. At that time, Toyota kept the details close to its chest, but now with this new sedan arriving in September, Toyota has revealed all the info on the upcoming 2020 Avalon TRD. Keep reading to know what to expect when it arrives at Garber Fox Lake Toyota serving the Waukegan, McHenry, and Crystal Lake areas.

The updates to the 2020 Toyota Avalon TRD, which Toyota will base on the XSE trim, will start with an aero package that will include a front splitter, side aero skirts, trunk lid spoiler, and rear diffuser. On top of that, the Avalon TRD will gain 19-by-8.5-inch matte-black wheels that are 18-pounds lighter than the XSE trim’s standard rollers. It will also feature a gloss-black grille with a sport mesh insert and black badging. These upgrades will combine with four available color options: Supersonic Red, Windchill Pearl, Celestial Silver Metallic, and Midnight Black Metallic.

Inside, the 2020 Toyota Avalon TRD will boast black sport SofTex-wrapped seats with Ultra-Suede inserts and red accents. It will also boast red-stitched TRD embroidered headrests, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with red stitching, red seat belts, a TRD logo shifter knob with red stitching, and TRD floor mats.

Under its hood, the 2020 Toyota Avalon TRD will boast a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that will deliver 301 horsepower and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The TRD team will upgrade it with a throaty TRD cat-back exhaust system for a deeper growl at idle.

The 2020 Avalon TRD’s chassis will feature enhanced underbody braces for enhanced rigidity, upgraded coil springs for a 0.6-inch lower center of gravity, and TRD-tuned shocks.  This will add up to a 44% increase in front roll stiffness and a 67% increase in rear roll stiffness.

TRD will also upgrade the brakes, adding 12.9-inch front rotors squeezed by red-painted two-piston calipers and 12-inch rear rotors gripped by single-piston calipers.

The 2020 Toyota Avalon TRD is available now at Garber Fox Lake Toyota serving the Waukegan, McHenry, and Crystal Lake, so swing by today to test drive it. Not up for the sportiness this model offers?
