Go Wild in a 2018 Toyota Tundra

By Justin Cupler | August 1st, 2018

For a truck that’s a beast off-road and well-mannered on the asphalt, check out the 2018 Toyota Tundra. This American-made, V-8-only lineup provides you with up to 401 pound-feet of torque and a TRD Sport Package so you have the power and accessories you need to tackle the trails and tough jobs. Now that the advanced Toyota Safety Sense-P system is standard on all Tundra trims, safety is built right in.

You’ll have your choice between two engine options for the 2019 Tundra. The standard 4.6-liter V-8 produces 310 horsepower and 327 pound-feet of torque to start with but you can upgrade to the 5.7-liter V-8 for 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque for extra power. Both engines mate to a six-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission.

Thanks to all the brawn built into this truck, you can tow over 10,000 pounds. Features like staggered, outboard-mounted shocks, a heavy-duty TripleTech frame with integrated towing hitch receiver, and 12 high-strength bolts built into the frame make this possible. From the driver’s seat, you can press the “tow/haul” button and the transmission will hold lower gears longer to give you better control when towing.

Get the new TRD Sport package for a unique look including body-color surround for the honeycomb-style grille, color-keyed mirrors, bumpers and hood scoop, and 20-inch silver-painted aluminum alloy wheels with black accents. The Sport package also comes with LED headlights, daytime running lights, and fog lights for striking visibility. A “TRD” bedside graphic showcases your upgrade, and you can get this package in Super White, Magnetic Gray, Midnight Blue Metallic, Blazing Blue Pearl, and Barcelona Red Metallic.

The 2018 Toyota Tundra is available as a four-door double cab or a spacious CrewMax configuration. The interior offers a blend of comfort and practicality, with available leather seating and an available center console for extra storage space. Enjoy a 6.1-inch touchscreen with Entune Audio hands-free phone capability, Siri Eyes Free, advanced voice recognition, plus phone book access, and Bluetooth audio streaming.

The newly standard Toyota Safety Sense-P driver assist system is a suite of innovative active safety technologies that gives you extra confidence wherever the road takes you. Features include pre-collision alert with pedestrian detection that warns you if it detects a head-on collision. That system can even apply automatic emergency braking if you don’t respond in time. You’ll have the added safety of lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and dynamic radar cruise control.
